Terms of Service
Draft under legal review. This text is not yet in force and may change before launch.
These are the rules for using Pancina, the diary for people living with Crohn's disease. We wrote them the way we wrote the privacy policy: in plain words, saying what you can expect from us and what we ask of you.
1. Who we are
Pancina is provided by:
DRENLAB S.R.L.Via Campiglio, 74
38025 Dimaro Folgarida (TN), Italy
VAT IT02553180221
Email: business@drenlab.com
PEC (certified email): business@pec.drenlab.com
These terms are the contract between you and DRENLAB S.R.L. ("we") for using the Pancina app and the service that runs it: your account and the storage of your diary. How we handle your personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy, which remains a separate document: these terms do not replace or change it.
2. In short
- Pancina is a diary. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, it does not give medical advice and it does not replace your doctor. In an emergency, call 112.
- You can use it from age 16.
- What you write is yours. You only give us permission to store it, show it back to you and prepare the files you ask for.
- Today everything is free. The diary features will stay free. If anything paid ever arrives, you will read it in the app at least 30 days before, and nothing you have already created will be locked.
- You can export everything and delete your account whenever you like, from Settings, at no cost.
- Every right the law gives you as a consumer stays in place: nothing in these terms reduces it.
3. What Pancina is and isn't
Pancina is an iPhone diary for people living with Crohn's disease. It lets you record daily check-ins, stools, food, therapies and lab results, look back at your own history over time, including standard clinical scores calculated from your entries, and prepare one page to bring to your visit.
Pancina is a diary. It does not diagnose, predict flares or give medical advice — always discuss your data with your gastroenterology team.
In particular, Pancina:
- is not a medical device and is not certified as one;
- does not diagnose, does not monitor your disease, does not predict how things will go and does not interpret your data;
- does not tell you which medicines to take, in what dose, or what to eat: the only reminders are the ones you set;
- does not replace your doctor or your gastroenterology team, and is not a way to communicate with them.
Always make decisions about your health with your doctor. Do not disregard medical advice or put off a visit because of something you saw, or did not see, in the app. In an emergency, call 112 straight away.
Whoever reads your report, for example your gastroenterologist, reads it as your own notes: it contains what you entered or what is recorded in Apple Health, and Pancina does not check it for clinical accuracy.
4. Who can use it
Pancina is for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, you may use it only together with a parent or guardian, who creates the account, accepts these terms for you and stays involved in how you use it. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 16, or that you are the parent or guardian creating it for a minor.
Pancina is for personal use: a diary of yourself, or of your child if you are the parent who created the account.
5. Your account
To use Pancina you create an account with an email address and a password. Authentication is provided by Firebase Authentication (Google); we never see your password.
- Use an email address that is yours and that you check: that is where we will write if something important concerns your account or these terms.
- Keep your password to yourself and choose one you do not use elsewhere. The account is personal: do not share it.
- If you think someone has got into your account, change your password straight away and write to ciao@pancina.app.
On our side, we protect our systems as described in the Security section of the Privacy Policy.
6. Your data is yours
Everything you enter in Pancina, check-ins, notes, food entries, therapies, lab results, stays yours. We do not become its owner.
To let you use the app we need your permission to do a few things with that content. You therefore give us a free, non-exclusive licence, limited to the life of your account, only to store it, sync it between the app and our servers, show it back to you and generate the summaries, reports and exports you ask for, including through the technical providers named in the Privacy Policy. Nothing else.
We do not use your content for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not use it for research or to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not show it to other users. The licence ends when you delete an entry or your account; any copies left in the provider's backups are removed on its standard schedule, as the Privacy Policy explains.
The processing of personal data, health data included, is governed by the Privacy Policy and by the separate consents the app asks you for. If, on a point concerning your data, these terms and the Privacy Policy seem to say different things, the Privacy Policy applies.
You can take everything with you at any time, free: Settings → Your data → Export all data gives you a complete JSON file, and the Passaporto IBD and the FHIR export are yours to take anywhere.
What is ours
The app, the name Pancina, the character Pina la Pancina, the texts, illustrations and design belong to DRENLAB S.R.L. While these terms apply, we give you a personal, free, non-exclusive right to use the app to keep your diary.
7. Fair use
We ask you to use Pancina for what it is, a personal diary. In particular you may not:
- use it for commercial purposes or to keep other people's data without the right to do so, for example to record patients' data;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or into our systems beyond what the app allows;
- interfere with the service, overload it or extract data from it with automated tools;
- copy, modify or decompile the app, except where the law allows it anyway;
- use the names Pancina or Pina la Pancina in a way that suggests a connection with us that does not exist.
If one of these rules is seriously broken, we may suspend or close the account as explained in section 11.
8. Apple Health
- Optional. The connection to Apple Health is switched on only if you choose it, with a separate consent and iOS's permission. The diary is fully usable without it.
- Read-only. The app reads only the types of data listed in the Privacy Policy and never writes to Apple Health.
- Under your control. You can revoke access at any time in the app or in iOS Settings; from then on the app stops reading. What was already read stays in your diary until you delete it, or delete your account.
- As it arrives. The values come from Apple Health and the devices that record into it, such as Apple Watch. Pancina shows them as it receives them: it does not correct or check them.
Apple Health is a service of Apple governed by Apple's terms. Apple Health, Apple Watch and iPhone are trademarks of Apple Inc.; Pancina is not affiliated with Apple.
9. Price and our commitments
As of 12 October 2026 Pancina is entirely free: no subscription, no in-app purchases, no advertising, no card. This includes the visit report and the Cambio PDF.
The diary stays free
The diary features stay free for as long as we offer Pancina: daily check-in and Trends, stool log, food diary, therapies with doses and calendar, reading from Apple Health, calprotectin with scan, Passaporto IBD and FHIR export, widgets and reminders. Exporting all your data and deleting your account also stay free. We will not move any of these features into a paid plan.
If anything paid ever arrives
In the future we may offer some paid features, for example certain reports. If that happens:
- you will read it in the app first, at least 30 days before the change takes effect, with the price and the exact list of what becomes paid;
- the change will not catch you on the eve of a visit: if the next visit date you saved in the app falls within those 30 days, the report for that visit stays free;
- nothing you have already created will be locked: reports and PDFs already generated stay yours, on your phone, and your data stays viewable, exportable (JSON, FHIR, Passaporto IBD) and deletable for free;
- you will never be charged without an explicit choice of yours: a purchase will always be your own action, through the App Store, with the price shown first, and there will be no automatic move to a paid plan;
- the diary, as above, stays free either way.
We will not use a change to these terms to reduce these commitments.
10. A young service
Pancina is new, and we are building it together with its first users. It may contain errors, and some features may change, improve or, rarely, be removed.
- We do our best for it to work well and always be available, but there may be interruptions for maintenance, updates or problems with our providers. When we can, we announce them in advance.
- If a feature you use changes significantly or is removed, we tell you in the app with reasonable notice, unless the change is urgent for security or legal reasons. The diary features listed in section 9 are not moved behind a payment.
- If you take part in a test version, for example through TestFlight, it may be less stable: please report problems to ciao@pancina.app.
- The provider keeps backup copies, but we suggest you export your data now and then: it is free and the file is yours.
If we ever decided to close Pancina, we would tell you in the app and by email at least 60 days in advance, and during that time you could export all your data.
11. Closing your account
Whenever you want
You can stop whenever you like, at no cost and without giving reasons: Settings → Delete account and all data. Your account and records are deleted immediately and permanently; any copies left in the provider's backups disappear on its standard schedule. Before deleting, export your data if you want it: afterwards we cannot recover it.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. To delete it, use the option in Settings, or write to business@drenlab.com and we will do it for you.
The right of withdrawal the Italian Consumer Code gives you for distance contracts is unaffected; with Pancina you can in any case withdraw at any time by deleting your account.
When we do it
We may suspend or close an account only for a serious reason: a serious breach of the rules in section 7, use that endangers the security of other users or of the service, or a legal obligation. Unless it is urgent or the law forbids it, we write to you first at the account's address explaining why and, where it can be put right, we give you time to do so. Even if we close the account, we give you at least 30 days to export your data, unless the law does not allow it.
12. Liability
We are liable to you under Italian law and the rules that protect consumers. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits:
- our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence;
- our liability for death or personal injury caused by our act or omission;
- the rights given to you by the Italian Consumer Code and other mandatory rules, including, where they apply, those on the conformity of digital content and services.
That said, some things are not in our hands, and we would rather say so plainly:
- Pancina shows what you enter and what it receives from Apple Health. If a value is entered wrongly or recorded wrongly by a device, the app shows it as it is.
- Pancina gives no medical guidance, so it cannot take the place of your doctor's assessment (section 3).
- We are not liable for interruptions caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as general network failures or force majeure, unless we failed to do what was reasonably possible to avoid them or limit their effects.
If something does not work, write to ciao@pancina.app: fixing it is almost always more useful than arguing about it.
13. App Store and Apple
You download Pancina from Apple's App Store. The licence to use the app's software is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; these terms govern the Pancina service, that is the account, the storage of your diary and the features, and are in addition to that licence, not a replacement for it.
As Apple asks app publishers to do, we also let you know that:
- these terms are between you and DRENLAB S.R.L., not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app: for support, write to us;
- if the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty you may notify Apple, which will refund any price you paid for the app (currently none); beyond that, to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and the obligations the law places on the provider remain ours;
- any claims about the app, for example product liability, regulatory compliance, consumer protection or privacy, are to be addressed to us, not to Apple;
- if anyone claims the app infringes their intellectual property rights, we are responsible, not Apple;
- you must comply with the App Store's usage rules and the export rules that apply to the app;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
14. Law, courts and complaints
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer living in another country of the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.
For any dispute with a consumer, the competent court is that of the place where the consumer lives or is domiciled, if in Italy (art. 66-bis Italian Consumer Code). If you live in another EU country you may also bring proceedings before the courts of your country.
If you have a complaint, write to ciao@pancina.app or business@drenlab.com: we answer within 30 days. You may also turn to a consumer alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body or to mediation; doing so is your choice and does not take away your right to go to court.
The EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform was closed on 20 July 2025 by Regulation (EU) 2024/3228, which is why you will not find a link to it here.

16. Changes to these terms
We change these terms only for a valid reason: changes in the law or guidance from the authorities, new features (paid ones included, as in section 9), security reasons, or to make the text clearer. When that happens we update the version and date at the top and show you the new version in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, with the main differences explained in plain words. If you do not agree, you can export your data and delete your account, free, before that date. Changes do not apply retroactively.
A change required by law or urgent for security may apply sooner: in that case we tell you as soon as we can. Changes concerning the processing of your data follow the Privacy Policy, which asks for your consent again when needed.
Version 0.9 — draft, 12 October 2026. These terms are available in Italian at pancina.app/termini; in case of doubt the Italian text prevails.
